EXTRA STUFF |
Over the years, we have had many folks come to us complaining that their stunt kite won't fly. There are many reasons why a stunt kite won't perform as promised. The most common mistake people make, is not letting the full length of their lines out. The second most common is that the lines are not equal in length.. If you have tried and failed to fly your stunt kite, and have not observed the rules above, give it another try. Usually you need a good steady 8-10 mph wind to fly your stunt kite. If you find that you are running backwards, or that your hands are spread apart and you are yanking on the lines--you don't have enough wind. Go home, have a soda and wait for a better time! As you become more familiar with your kite, many stunt kites will fly in less than an 8 mph wind. But it takes experience and practice. Below are the instructions we hand out to every stunt kite novice. |
STUNT KITE FLYING INSTRUCTIONS Assemble the kite, follow directions Make sure your bridle marks are in the same place Launcher holds the kite with the wind hitting face of the kite Flier stands with their back to the wind and let's out all of the line, making both lines equal in length. Launcher releases the kite, flier steps backwards one step and the kite flies upward Pull right for the right turns and left for left turns. Lines will cross and uncross, but will not tangle. Fly the kite to the far left or right to land When finished disconnect lines to wind them up. |

Most stunt kites require the use of the Lark's head hitch to attach your flying lines. Here is an example of how to do the knot: |

After you have made the hitch, simply attach it to your kite as shown above. |
